The Healthy Harvey Coalition is working together to improve the health, safety, and success of all people in Harvey County. In 2013, the Coalition launched as an umbrella organization to bring forth health initiatives in the community. The Harvey County Health Department began facilitating the Coalition, bringing together interested business, organizations and community members to address the social determinants of health. Then in 2024, the Coalition transitioned to United Way of Harvey and Marion Counties. This transition allows for more flexibilty in funding opportunities and aligns with United Way's healthy community initiatives.
Funding for the Healthy Harvey Coalition comes from the Chronic Disease Risk Reduction Grant from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas Pathways to a Healthy Kansas Grant.
Our coalition is open to anyone residing or working in Harvey County. We meet 6 times per year on the 1st Wednesday of the even months at noon. Meetings can be attended via Zoom as well!
The Healthy Harvey Coalition carries out its mission through various leadership teams. Current Leadership Teams:

In 2024, the Healthy Harvey Coalition helped Hesston Resource Center to provide healthier food options for clients. The funds were used to purchase additional storage and shelving to assist with easier sorting of products. The City of Halstead was awarded funding to connect a new sidewalk from the Housing Authority to existing sidewalk. This provided residents with safe walking routes to downtown shopping and activities, and will tie in with Safe Routes to School for students.
In 2023, the Coalition worked with the Kansas Learning Center for Health to purchase and install outdoor fitness equipment available for all residents and students to use.
In 2022, in partnership with the Food and Farm Council, a Food System Gap Assessment was conducted to identify barriers to accessing nutritious food in Harvey County, thanks for funds received through the Pathways to a Healthy Kansas.
